This workshop is designed to discuss the intersection of language, race, and identity, as well as their impact on each other. Participants will also be given an opportunity to reflect on their personal and professional experiences with power, privilege, and marginalization.
Speaker: Dr. Angel Jones
This workshop is designed to be a follow-up to the first workshop and will focus on checking in with participants. We will discuss how things have been going for them since returning to work as well as follow up on their wellness plans. Participants will also be able to adjust their plans based on their specific needs at that time.
Speaker: Dr. Angel Jones
In this interactive workshop, participants will define white privilege and identify
the ways in which white privilege shows up at Colleges and Universities.
Using a case study approach, Dr. Kevin McGowan and Dr. Melissa Winchell will guide
participants through ways that white privilege results perpetuates harm for people
of color. Tools of white privilege–such as good intention–will be discussed and dismantled.
Participants will learn how to be authentic allies to co-workers and students of color
and leave the workshop with ideas for how to grow their allyship.
Speakers: Dr. Melissa Winchell and Dr. Kevin McGowan, Bridgewater State University
