Massasoit Community College encourages all persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. The College is committed to ensuring that its campus and the 2025 Commencement ceremony are accessible to all who wish to visit and attend. If you have questions regarding the accessibility of our campus or the Commencement ceremony, please contact Julie McNeill-Kenerson at jmcneill1@massasoit.mass.edu, via email or phone at 508-588-9100, extension 1807, in advance of your participation or visit.

Requesting Accommodations

We encourage all attendees, including students and guests, to request accessibility accommodations as early as possible to provide the college with reasonable time to coordinate those requests. The deadline for accommodation requests is May 8, 2025

Accessibility & Accommodations Request Form

While every effort will be made to provide accommodations requested after the deadline, they cannot be guaranteed and will be subject to availability. We ask that in addition to submitting the form, you contact Julie McNeill-Kenerson at jmcneill1@massasoit.mass.edu directly for any last-minute disability-related requests.

Available Accommodations

Accommodations for the 2025 Commencement ceremony, such as requests for reserved accessible parking, golf cart escort to the Commencement tent, alternative indoor seating, reserved accessible outdoor tent seating, ASL Interpreting, closed-captioning, or any other accessibility request, should be requested by using the form above.

Accessible Parking Locations

For reserved accessible parking closest to the event, students and guests should submit the request form to request a spot in our reserved accessible parking lot at the edge of the Student Center and Administration buildings. If you opt not to use the reserved accessible parking lot, students and guests needing accessible parking can park in any of the lots using their RMV-issued disability placards. Please note that not all accessible spots are in close proximity to the Commencement ceremony tent. If you are unfamiliar with our campus layout, we recommend that you view the Brockton Campus Map in advance of the event.

Golf Cart Escorts

Golf cart escorts will be available for guests needing additional assistance getting to the Commencement tent or back to their vehicles. Golf cart waiting areas for pick-up/drop-off will be located throughout campus in parking lots 2, FA, T & S, and A & SC. Please look for the tents and signage. Some limited seating will be available for those waiting. The number of guests that can fit on each cart varies.

Student Accessible Reserved Seating & Other Accommodations

Students can request accessibility accommodations such as reserved accessible seating with close proximity to the stage, mobility device priority seating, and bypass of robing and check-in, etc. If you are unsure of your needs, please still submit a form so that we are aware of your interest in accommodations and can discuss your options.

Accessible Reserved Seating for Guests

Guests can reserve seats in our accessible reserved area in advance or by expressing an interest in being placed in this area on the day of Commencement. The reserved area is to the right of the center aisle, or the 4th column from the left. Guests can stay seated or maintain their mobility devices or can park their mobility devices, if preferred, behind this seating area. Guests can stay with their group and are not required to sit separately.

Indoor Seating Options

Guests of the 2025 Commencement should note that the College offers alternative indoor seating in our Buckley Performing Arts Theater in the Fine Arts Building, where Commencement will be live-streamed. No tickets are required for this space. The space features air conditioning, accessible restrooms, and is accessible by a ramp. The simulcast will feature ASL Interpreting and closed captioning. We also have a large, quiet lobby with television screens and adjacent hallways for our guests who need to move around more often or seek a sensory calming environment.

ASL Interpreting & Closed Captioning

The Commencement ceremony will be live-streamed and available for viewing on personal or mobile devices. Please note that both closed captioning and ASL Interpreting will be available during the ceremony. Large screens are placed under the tent to optimize viewing regardless of location.

Stroller & Mobility Device Parking

Stroller and mobility device parking will be available under the tent. Tent staff will direct you to this area. Young families or guests with disabilities using strollers who need to stay seated in the mobility device are welcome to do so.

Accessible Restrooms

Accessible restrooms will be located alongside the side of the Field House, closest to the Commencement Tent. Guests are also welcome to use indoor accessible restrooms. The closest are located at the rear of the lower level of the Student Center building.
