About Our Program

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is similar to First Aid & CPR; this course will prepare you to respond to youth and other individuals who may be experiencing a mental health-related crisis or problem.

YMHFA is a skills-based training that teaches parents, family members, teachers, school staff, neighbors, health and human services workers and any other citizen how to identify, understand and respond to an adolescent (ages 5-18) who may be experiencing mental health or substance use challenges.

Topics include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addiction. Learn what to say, how to use the 5-step action plan and whom to contact for more help. This course is offered through the National Council for Behavioral Health.

Note: Before a student can attend instructor-led training, they must complete their course preparation work – which includes a pre-evaluation, opinions quiz and blended pre-work.
