What is Online Learning?

Instead of traditional classroom sessions held on campus, online learners work independently at home using computers and technology. Faculty members provide instruction and guidance through a variety of tools available in Massasoit’s learning management system: online discussions, video lectures, quizzes, and assignments. Online courses have equivalent requirements and outcomes as traditional classroom-based courses.

Online Learning State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement

The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) is an agreement among member states, districts, and territories in the United States, which establishes comparable national standards for interstate offering of post-secondary distance education courses and programs. SARA is overseen by a national council (NC-SARA) and administered by four regional education compacts. What does it do? It simplifies the process of taking online courses for credit at an institution of higher education based in another state. Massasoit Community College operates its distance education classes and programs under the provisions for out-of-state students set by SARA. A list of participating state and territories.

SARA Approved

Massasoit Community College is SARA Approved. The college accepts students from all 50 states and from Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands into our online classes and programs.

Massasoit Community College has been approved by The Commonwealth of Massachusetts to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.
